Representing the people of the East of England

Geoffrey Van Orden is one of seven MEPs representing the inhabitants of the East of England region in the European Parliament. Elections to the European Parliament took place using the traditional system of First Past the Post - with individual MEPs for individual areas - until 1999. At that point the Labour Government abolished our historic system in favour of Proportional Representation.
