Local MEP Debates 'Europe' with Cambridge students

Local Conservative MEP Geoffrey Van Orden recently addressed the Politics Society of Christ's College, Cambridge (Friday 13 November).

Speaking to an audience of 50 students and faculty members, he covered a wide range of topics including the detrimental effects of the Lisbon Treaty for the UK. He responded to students' concerns about further political integration and the democratic deficit in the European Union.

Mr Van Orden commented, "I am always very keen to take the time to speak to young people, answer their questions and hear their views on such important subjects.

"There is much about the EU people in the UK don't like, but it impacts on all our lives and so it is vital that our brightest students are made aware of all the issues and how they can influence the process in the future."
